SC State alumna, Dr. BerNadette Lawson-Williams will sign copies of her latest book, “Blossom Bee’s Golf Adventures,” Saturday, on Oct. 11, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The book- signing will be held at the I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium on SC State’s campus.
“I am ecstatic about the release of “Blossom Bee's Golf Adventures,” I can't wait for the entire world to meet Blossom Bee,” stated Dr. Lawson-Williams. “She is bound to inspire us to embrace our youthful energy, live life to the fullest, and pursue life's adventures with passion,” she said.
“Blossom Bee's Golf Adventures” published on Sept. 23, 2008, tells the friendly and light-hearted story of an adorable, ambitious, and inquisitive little girl named “Blossom Bee” who encounters endless adventures while discovering the sport of golf. Through her adventures, she learns all about the sport's rules, etiquette, history, and much more. A vivacious, free-spirited, and charismatic little girl with a big love for being healthy and physically active, “Blossom Bee” is bound to charm her way into the hearts of all readers.
“Blossom Bee’s Golf Adventures” will be 74 pages in full color and priced at $24.95. It uses a unique poetic and metaphoric style to engage, entertain, and educate its readers. It also features several learning activities that are designed to foster children's intellectual growth and critical thinking skills. The book also emphasizes on strong family values and good nutrition, along with many other positive behaviors.

“The book will inspire students to become healthier and physically fit by reminding them of the core values involved in maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” stated Dr. Lawson-Williams.
Dr. Lawson-Williams graduated cum laude from SC State with a bachelor of science degree in Physical Education. She received a master of science degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Sport Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in Lacrosse, WI.
She is a certified physical educator in both North and South Carolina and aims to motivate youth to engage in a healthy and physically active lifestyle. She has utilized her expertise and experiences to implement a number of physical activity-related programs, including a collaborative dance program for elementary school students, family wellness program, and an afterschool physical activity and mentoring program for adolescent females called Project Blossom.
The messages conveyed in Blossom Bee’s Golf Adventures transcend age, race, color, etc. The primary focus of the book is on using sports as a venue to help all people become healthier and happier.
Dr. Lawson-Williams along with 17 other professional women, 13 of whom are SC State alumni, co-authored a personal wellness book titled "I Don't Mean to Smash Your Tomatoes, Honey!" in 2007.
