Orangeburg, S.C. – The SC State Career Center in conjunction with North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN), a professional organization designed to support the nuclear industry which unites young professionals who believe in nuclear science and technology, will host a Nuclear Industry Career Fair and Information Session.
The information session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Belcher Hall, 4th Floor Auditorium at SC State. During this time, young professionals from various disciplines will give a brief presentation on the nuclear industry combined with question and answer sessions and short video clips to help students acquire an adequate understanding of the nuclear industry, and to dispel common misconceptions.
The Nuclear Industry Career Fair will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 from 10a.m. to 3 p.m. in Belcher Hall, Room 236. Representatives from Duke Energy, SCANA, The Shaw Group, Electric Power Research Institution (EPRI), IBEW and Washington Group International, will be present.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to meet with SC State students and make them aware of the various opportunities in the nuclear industry,” said Angela Saleeby, NAYGN Carolina Career Fair Lead.
Students from various areas such as business, communications, economics, marketing, political science, public relations and all areas of engineering, will benefit from these events.
“I’m grateful to the North American Young Generation in Nuclear for exposing our students to Careers within the Nuclear Industry,” said Joseph Thomas, director of the Career Development Center at SC State. “We are looking forward to this event as a variety of employers come to share career opportunities with our students,” added Thomas.
