HSRN ANNOUNCES WEEK 5 NATIONAL FAN POLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Hartly, DE - The Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) has announced week five nominees for the football fan poll National Player of the Week. Fans across the country can cast their vote by visiting HSRN.Com. Voting will be up on the HSRN.com home page (Fan Poll) until Tuesday at 6pm (CST). Each week HSRN will honor the top-performances on the gridiron for Division I FCS and Div. II and to add to the excitement, fans across the country are the ones that get into the action by casting votes for who they think had the top performance in HBCU football.
Nominees for this week are:
Division I – FCS
Malcolm Long – S.C. State (6’3, 257-JR-QB/Gaffney, SC) completed 22 of 33 passes for 274 yards and 1 TD in the Bulldogs’ 27-10 win over Winston-Salem State. Long set a career record for passing yards in a game with 274 and tied his completion record of 22 in the contest as SC State improved to 3-0
Curtis Pulley – Florida A&M (6’4, 200-SR-QB/Hopkinsville, KY) completed 24 of 34 passes for 315 yards and rushed for 23 yards, giving him 338 yards of total offense as the Rattlers defeated Tennessee State 31-12. He had touchdown passes for two and 26 yards. He was named the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic MVP.
Paul Roberts – Mississippi Valley St. (6’2, 196-SR-QB/Gulfport, MS) completed 20 of 34 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 17 yards, given him 227 yards of total offense. The Delta Devils defeated Alabama State 10-3 in the Chicago Classic.
Tim Buckley – Alcorn State (6’1, 185-SR-QB/Madison, MS) completed 25 of 40 passes for 408 yards and five touchdowns. TD passes for 73, 20, 31, 14 and 11 yards. Also rushed for 52 yards on 18 carries and also rushed for one TD. He was in on 460 yards of the Braves 467 yards of total offense. His efforts fell short of a victory as the Braves were defeated by Southern 48-42.
Alfred Ngauja – Virginia St. (5’11, 185-SO-DB/Alexandria, VA) finished the day with nine tackles (5 solos), one tackle for a two yard loss, one fumble recovery that he returned 95 yards for a touchdown, one interception and two pass break-ups. It was an upset 25-20 victory for the Trojans over Fayetteville State.
Corey Robinson – Miles (6’1, 220-SO-LB/Macon, GA) in a defense battle, it was his 12 tackles (4 solos), two tackles for seven yards in losses, one fumble recovery that was the only score of the game and one quarterback hurry. Miles defeated Clark Atlanta 6-0.
Rodney Webb – Bowie St. (5’9, 208-JR/Baltimore, MD) rushed for a game and career-high 174 yards for the BSU’s Bulldogs on 29 carries. He had TD runs of 47 yards and two yards in their 31-24 upset win over HSRN’s Div. II number one team.
AJ Mckenna – Albany State (6’5, 225-SO/Port Charlotte, FL) passed for 254 yards completing 15 of 24 passes. With no interceptions, he had touchdown passes for 61, 33 and 28 yards. The Rams defeated Benedict 38-6.
