Executive Director for the Division of Student Affairs, Dr. John M. Berry, CFRM, was recently selected to serve on the review committee for The Center on Philanthropy (The Fund Raising School) at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Ind. Berry was selected to conduct a comprehensive review of The Fund Raising School (TFRS).The review committee will evaluate TFRS operations and generate a written report by the end of October 2009.
TFRS promotes the highest standards in professional fundraising and the body of knowledge informing the philanthropic tradition. TFRS experts teach the historical and philanthropic context, the current issues, and the art and science of fundraising and philanthropy. TFRS is the only international fundraising education program housed within Indiana University.
As a member of the review committee, Berry is charged with drafting an external review of the international aspect of fundraising for TFRS.
Additionally, the review committee is charged with reviewing the various aspects of TFRS, such as course offerings, pricing, market competition, evaluation, alternative methods of course delivery, and the relationship between academia and practitioners. During the review, there will also be interviews with former and current participants in TFRS course.
Berry, a graduate of TFRS, states, “it is indeed an honor to be selected to serve on this review committee. The Center of Philanthropy provides the world’s largest philanthropic trends of giving. The Center on Philanthropy is known as the Fund Raising Harvard,” he continued.
TFRS also offers a Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) through the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, recognizing a commitment to fundraising leadership through successful completion of four key courses offered by TFRS.
