SC State University Art Professor's Exhibition on Display at USC Upstate-Spartanburg

TidalLeslie Rech, associate professor of Art in SC State University’s Department Of Visual and Performing Arts, is currently exhibiting her artwork at the Curtis R. Harley Gallery, located at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.

Rech’s exhibition, entitled “Tidal,” will be on display until March 26, 2010.  “Tidal” is a mixed-media installation composed of suspended garments and an audio recording. The exhibition references the elemental and overwhelming nature of the sea as a metaphor for motherhood. 

Rech has exhibited mixed-media installations throughout the country. Her work has been published on the cover of CALYX, a journal of Art and Literature by Women, and has been awarded artist’s fellowship grants from the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, N.Y. and the Fundacion Valparaiso in Mojacar, Spain. 

Rech received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Carolina (USC) in Columbia, S.C. in 1998.
