SC State University to Bring Community Together During Criminal Justice Law Week

Friday, March 26, 2010

SC State University’s Department of Human Services presents Criminal Justice Law Week, beginning on Monday, March 29, 2010 through Friday, April 2, 2010. This year’s theme is “Turning the Decade in Criminal Justice: Infusing Ethics, Integrity and Character.”

During SC State University’s Criminal Justice Law Week, faculty, staff, students, criminal justice practitioners and members of the community will examine the obstacles that interfere with advancing toward a fairer and equitable criminal justice system.  Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to share in open discussions regarding criminal justice policies such as ethics, integrity and character during morning and afternoon session.

“In preparing for the week of activities, our goal is to extend the learning process beyond the classroom.  Students will have the opportunity to engage in discussions about controversial issues in criminal justice with current criminal justice professionals.  At the same time, they will learn about possible careers and internships in the field and begin to develop their professional network,” said Giselle White-Perry, assistant professor of Criminal Justice at SC State University.
