Rocket Scientist for a Day: STEM for a Lifetime

Build and launch a flying model rocket! SC State University, through a NASA grant program, is offering 100 high school students and 20 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) educators, the opportunity to become a rocket scientist for a day. Participants will spend one exciting day learning about rockets and how they relate to the broad STEM fields. The budding rocket scientists will build model rockets throughout the day while attend presentations related to rockets and pursuing STEM majors in college. The day will end with a spectacular launch of all 120 model rockets.

9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.:   Mini sessions on STEM topics and rocket construction
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.:   Lunch and concurrent sessions
  Student sessions: STEM majors in college
  Teacher sessions: Using rockets in the classroom
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.:   Mini sessions on STEM topics and rocket construction
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.:   Rocket launch (weather dependent)
