Counselor Education Admission Criteria

Applicants for the Master of Education degree in Counselor Education must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Applicants must present a complete Graduate School Admissions Portfolio composed of the items listed below in order to be eligible for the interview conducted by the Program’s Screening and Admissions Committee. The completed Portfolio must be presented prior to the specified deadline if the applicant is to be considered for admission the following academic term. Portfolio contents along with admissions regulations and other pertinent information are presented here.


Graduate School Admissions Portfolio: Contents completed and consisting of the following elements: (Deadline: July 15, December 1, and April 1 for Fall, Spring or Summer admission, respectively.)


Application:  Completed Graduate School application indicating the M.Ed. Program in Counselor Education as the intended major.


GOAL STATEMENT:  A logically developed statement of career goals and plans attached to the Program application.


TRANSCRIPTS:  Copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts sent to The School of Graduate Studies.

 


ASSESSMENT DATA:

  1. GRE or MAT score;
  2. English Proficiency Examination score (contact graduate school);
  3. Undergraduate GPA and graduate GPA; all transcripts;


RECOMMENDATIONS:  Submit three recommendations using the form provided in the application packet.
