University Police Department

The University Police Department (UPD) provide a safe campus conducive to services which meets professional standards established for law enforcement agencies, as a result of fostering the education process by creating and maintaining a secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. UPD is a law enforcement agency whose officers are certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). UPD operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. UPD complies with the Jeanne Cleary Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Cleary Act), campus crime reporting occurs on an annual basis as a result of collaboration with the University Police Department and local and state law enforcement agencies, faculty, staff, students and visitors to the University. In an effort to reduce the number of incidents on campus, crime prevention news releases, educational workshops, new student orientation programs, outreach programs and e-mail blast are utilized community awareness tools.
