As our classrooms become more technologically enabled, we have increased opportunities to make use of these tools to enhance our courses. Beyond Learning Management Systems (Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) and smart boards, there are low tech (whiteboards) and in-class tech (clickers) options to help us engage students in different ways. The web is awash with online resources and digital media that can be used in your classes and Google Apps offers interesting possibilities for encouraging student collaboration. However, finding what you need and tools designed for teaching and learning, and especially those that are free and easy to use, is definitely a challenge. This session will introduce participants to specific repositories and referatories (e.g. Flikr, MERLOT) that have Learning Objects that are ready to use and open to share. As time permits, we will use selected web-based data gathering and collaborative tools (Polleverywhere, Socrative and Google Apps) and discuss sharing permissions (Creative Commons). Come with an idea for your class, and we will work to find video eclips, audio, images and tools that will help you get your ideas across and spur student learning.
