SC State University Hosts 2011 Annual Spring Open House

SC State’s Office of Admissions, Recruitment and Scholarships will host its 2011 Annual Spring Open House on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium located on the campus of SC State University. Registration is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

This event is open to high-school juniors and seniors and is a fantastic opportunity for prospective students and their parents, relatives and friends to visit SC State University’s campus and experience the excitement of Bulldog Country while participating in the many activities.

There will be a welcome and informational program hosted by SC State University’s 10th president, Dr. George E. Cooper. There will also be greetings from Miss SC State University, Ashley N. Graham, and Student Government Association (SGA) president, Anthony A. Beckett. The formal program will be followed by informational sessions on athletics, as well as band auditions, choral auditions and drama auditions.  Financial aid, orientation, residential life and housing, student success and retention and career services will be on hand. The Honors College, Pan-Hellenic organizations, South Carolina Alliance Minority Participation (SCAMP) and an array of academics, student-health and wellness and SC State’s Army ROTC Program will also provide information.                     

A campus tour is one among the many other activities planned for the day, and prospective students and their parents will have the opportunity to dine with current SC State students in the J.W. Washington Dining Hall on the campus of SC State University.

Prospective students who have not been accepted to SC State University are encouraged to bring an official or unofficial high school transcript and national examination scores, such as the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). During their visits, the Office of Admissions, Recruitment and Scholarships will process the prospective students’ documents for admission to the University.
