SC State University Police Department Sponsors Law Enforcement Expo

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Felton Laboratory School will be the home of the first annual Law Enforcement Expo. Over 20 law enforcement agencies have been invited to attend the event on Wed., May 25, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Felton Field located on the SC State campus. A climbing wall, inflatables and riding horses are some of the activities that students may engage in at the event, sponsored by the SC State University Police Department. There will also be a special appearance from Jordan Addison, Miss Black South Carolina.

According to SC State police chief, Michael Bartley, the expo is not just about fun. Students will also learn about the various aspects of law enforcement, such as the significance of obtaining identification and the importance of emergency vehicles. “There will be a number of law enforcement vehicles on site,” says Bartley, “running the gamut from EMS trucks to police cruisers and helicopters.”

First sergeant Woodrow Morgan also noted Project I.D., which will take place for Felton Laboratory School students who receive the proper permission from their parents. “Project I.D. simply means that a child’s picture will be taken and we will fingerprint the children. This information is given to the parents, assisting us if for some reason an abduction would take place,” states Morgan.
