Family & Consumer Sciences Business / Child Development Option

Family and Consumer Sciences Business Child Development Option The goal of the Child Development option is to equip students with the knowledge and skills, which serves as a basis of in-depth comprehension of the needs of children 0-8 years.


The programmatic goal of the curricula endeavor is to prepare students to effectively demonstrate implementation of instruction for preschoolers as well as develop effective teaching strategies for parenting to individuals, community groups, public and private education, professional and business sectors. Students also have the opportunity to explore related career selection prevailing workplace demands.


Students enrolled in this program have the opportunity to gain experiential learning experiences at the nationally accredited Child Development Learning Center (CDLC) located on campus.


Career Opportunities:

Child Care Center Director, Child Life Specialist, Early Intervention Specialist, Family Life Educator, Parent Educator, Preschool Teacher, and Youth Services Coordinator
