South Carolina State University’s Visual Arts Program commends the hard work and continued efforts of senior and artist, William Ellis. As a means to further excel in his craft and practice, Ellis continually submits his work to various juried calls for entry, both nationally and internationally. This summer, his works were selected to be included in two international exhibitions.

William Ellis ArtEllis’s work was included in the exhibition titled “Landscapes” at Blank Wall Gallery in Athens, Greece. His work was also featured in the exhibition titled “Urban Lights” at Millepiani Exhibition Space in Rome, Italy. To exhibit at the international level is a great achievement and SC State’s Visual and Performing Arts Program recognizes and applauds his continued efforts and success.

Ellis wrote to the faculty and members of the program, informing them of his accomplishments.

“I hope the summer is going well for each of you. I am proud that you all have made the Visual and Performing Arts (specifically, the Fine Arts Department) what it is today. Before coming back to school last fall semester, I was nervous about continuing my education. I am glad I did. If I had never come back, I would have not experienced how much the art program has grown. Thank you all for challenging and pushing me. This summer, I have had work included in two international exhibitions- one in Rome, Italy and the other in Athens, Greece. Each one of you played a special part in this journey. Kudos to you all,” said Ellis.

The department looks forward to welcoming Ellis back for the fall 2019 semester and seeing all he accomplishes during his remaining time at SC State.
