Duke Energy Corporation donates $10,000 to assist SC State students

The Duke Energy Corporation, one of the largest electric power companies in the United States, recently presented a $10,000 check to the SC State Foundation to provide scholarships to deserving sophomore and junior electrical and mechanical engineering students.

The Duke Energy Corporation Scholarship will be awarded to SC State students who demonstrate leadership through classroom work, campus or community service and maintains a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher. Recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in paid summer internships and co-ops with Duke Energy Corporation.

“The Duke Energy Corporation has been a longstanding supporter of SC State University and is a valuable member of SC State’s Business and Industry Cluster,” said Dr. Jackie Epps, interim vice president of Institutional Advancement at SC State. “This gift demonstrates their commitment to a strong partnership as we strive to transform students into productive citizens that contribute to our global society.”

The funds donated from the Duke Energy Corporation will be available during the Fall 2009 Academic Year.
