Michael Todd Landis

Dr. Michael Todd Landis is an assistant professor of history in the Department of Social Sciences at SC State University. He teaches courses on U.S. history and politics and serves on the College of Education, Humanities, & Social Sciences Communications Committee.

Background

Landis joined the Bulldog family in 2022.  He has taught history at colleges and universities in Florida, Nevada, Connecticut, Texas, and New York.  He has published in national media outlets, such as The Washington Post, and has authored numerous essays, articles, and op-eds.  In addition to teaching, Landis has served on the board of Historians Against Slavery and the Saratoga County History Center, was in the first cohort of the Andrew W. Mellon Teacher-Scholar Fellowship, and works with the Tri-County Human Trafficking Task Force of South Carolina.  He also serves as the founding adviser of SC State's History Club.  Before entering academia, he was a professional musician and music instructor.
