Lt. Col. Quentin F. Benjamin
Lt. Col. Quentin F. Benjamin is a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and the eldest son of Franklin R. Dash and Bettye Benjamin Ravenell. He is a proud graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, Class of 1991, earning accolades as a student-athlete in football and as a state qualifier in wrestling.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an 11B infantryman. He completed basic training and advanced individual training at Fort Moore, Georgia, followed by Airborne School, also at Fort Moore. His enlisted assignments included the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii; the 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Liberty, North Carolina; the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy; and the 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment at Fort Moore. During this period, Benjamin earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Troy University in 2005.
In 2008, Benjamin attended U.S. Army Federal Officer Candidate School at Fort Moore and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps. He completed the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. His officer assignments include: platoon leader, 602nd Aviation Support Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea; company executive officer, 109th Quartermaster Company, Fort Gregg-Adams; deputy support officer, Forward Logistical Element, Bagram Airfield and Kabul, Afghanistan; company commander, Fox and Golf Companies, 1st Battalion, 15th Forward Support Company, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Cavazos, Texas; brigade S4 officer-in-charge, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Cavazos; operations officer, 2503rd Digital Liaison Detachment, U.S. Army Central, Shaw Air Force Base; and battalion executive officer, Baton Rouge Recruiting Battalion, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He currently serves as inspector general inspection deputy for U.S. Army Central at Shaw Air Force Base. His deployments include Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, and Bagram Airfield and Kabul, Afghanistan.
Benjamin’s military education includes the Basic Airborne Course, Drill Sergeant School, Pathfinder Course, Aerial Delivery and Materiel Officer Course, Support Operations Course I and II, Joint Logistics Course, Logistics Captain Career Course, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army Inspector General School.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters; Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster; Army Good Conduct Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; Combat Action Badge; Expert Infantryman Badge; Pathfinder Badge; Parachute Rigger Badge; Parachutist Badge; Australian Parachutist Badge; German Parachutist Badge; and the German Schutzenschnur (Silver).
Benjamin has been married to his wife, Varncille Benjamin, for 30 years. They have five children. He holds a Master of Arts in Procurement and Acquisitions from Webster University.
He is a member of St. John Baptist Church in Cameron, South Carolina, an active member of his community, and a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
