Dr. Shavon T. Summers is a nationally certified speech-language pathologist, educator,
and leader dedicated to advancing communication, education, and equity. With nearly
a decade of experience across home health, public and charter schools, skilled nursing
facilities, and university clinics, she has built a reputation for delivering evidence-based,
technology-integrated speech therapy services that improve access and outcomes for
diverse populations.
As the owner and chief supervisor of Confident Communicators, LLC, Dr. Summers provides
individualized and group therapy services, supervises clinical staff, ensures compliance
with Medicaid and regulatory standards. She also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Educator
at South Carolina State University, where she mentors and trains aspiring speech-language
pathologists through clinical supervision, assessment, and treatment guidance.
Her leadership extends beyond clinical practice into professional and community engagement.
She is the current President of the South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators
(Orangeburg/Calhoun Satellite), where she fosters advocacy and professional development
opportunities for educators. Dr. Summers has also served in compliance and supervisory
roles, mentoring graduate students and clinical fellows while championing special
education services that meet federal and state standards.
A dedicated volunteer, Dr. Summers has spent more than a decade supporting SC State
athletics as a scorekeeper and press box assistant, as well as mentoring student-athletes
on character, integrity, and resilience. Her career reflects a steadfast commitment
to communication access, educational excellence, and community service.
