SC State counseling initiatives awarded $4.5M in federal support

South Carolina State University has received several new federal grants that will help more graduate students train for careers in counseling and rehabilitation. The funding supports programs that prepare counselors to work with children and teens facing trauma and disability, as well as programs that train professionals to support individuals with disabilities as they pursue education, independence and employment. Together, these grants will provide full scholarships, stipends and hands-on training partnerships — opening doors for students while strengthening services in schools and communities across South Carolina.

Postponed: Fall 2025 Passport Fair

South Carolina State University will host its upcoming Passport Fair on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025. from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. in Belcher Hall, Room 207. Thanks to the support of President Conyers, the first 100 student applications will be covered completely free. The event is open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.

SC State’s Ursula O. Robinson portrays Shelly Smith in ‘Murdaugh: Death in the Family’ on Hulu

A familiar face on the South Carolina State University campus has become a familiar face on national television. Fresh off her highly acclaimed roles in two Tyler Perry productions, SC State Drama Professor Ursula O. Robinson is back in the spotlight with a true-crime TV miniseries set here in South Carolina, “Murdaugh: Death in the Family,” which premieres Wednesday, Oct. 15, on Hulu.
