Col. Laverne O. Amara to headline SC State ROTC Bulldog Battalion Military Ball on Friday
The Army acquisition leader graduated from SC State in 1999.

Set for 6 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Orangeburg Conference Center, the formal, invitation-only Military Ball is one of the Bulldog Battalion’s signature traditions.
It brings together cadets, alumni and distinguished guests to celebrate leadership, service and excellence in the U.S. Army.
Amara, who currently serves as project manager for Expeditionary Energy and Sustainment Systems, leads a team responsible for delivering integrated, scalable energy and sustainment capabilities that support joint military operations worldwide.
A 1999 SC State graduate commissioned through the ROTC program, Amara has built a career spanning logistics, contracting and high-level acquisition leadership across the Army and Department of Defense.
Her assignments include service as a contingency contracting officer with the 412th Contracting Support Brigade, assistant program manager within Program Executive Officer Soldier, and Department of the Army systems coordinator in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology.
She also served as an acquisition adviser to the vice chief of staff of the Army and was selected as a Training with Industry fellow with Microsoft Corporation. Prior to her current role, she served as product manager for the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army and as chief of staff within the Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office.
Amara holds degrees from SC State, Webster University and the National Defense University and is certified in program management and contracting within the Army Acquisition Corps. Her military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with a silver oak leaf cluster, the Joint Service Commendation Medal and multiple Army commendation and achievement medals.
