South Carolina State University's new academic building is a $54.7 million state-funded project to provide students with the best learning environment possible in the modern world.

The 94,000-square-foot structure is underway adjacent to Turner Hall, the Kirkland W. Green Student Center Plaza, and Dukes Gymnasium, across Geathers Street from the Engineering and Computer Science Complex. It represents a major campus upgrade, replacing the century-old Turner Hall complex and serving as a central hub for instruction across the university.
The building will house general education courses, the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and modern instructional spaces for collaborative and experiential learning.. Amenities include a café, a mock courtroom, and classrooms equipped with the latest instructional technology
Harper General Contractors is managing construction. The facility was designed by Evoke Studios, whose architects were part of the team that designed the Engineering and Computer Science Complex.
Update Aug. 11, 2026: Crews have completed the steel structure and have been pouring concrete decks for each floor.
