South Carolina Student Physical Privacy Act (S.C. § Code 59-23-540)

In accordance with the requirements of South Carolina Student Physical Privacy Act
(S.C. § Code 59-23-540), effective May 15, 2026, multi-occupancy restrooms and changing
facilities must be used only by individuals whose sex assigned at birth corresponds
with the sex designated on the restroom and/or changing facility signage.
South Carolina State University is required to comply with this state law.

For individuals who do not wish to use the multi-occupancy restrooms of the sex assigned
to them at birth, singe-occupancy restrooms and their relevant quantities may be found
at the following locations across SCSU's campus:
- One restroom in the back hallway of the Student Center
- One restroom in the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences building (Staley Hall)
- Crawford Zimmerman 2nd floor Title III Suite
- Crawford Zimmerman 1st Floor Facilities Suite
- One restroom in Davis Hall 3rd floor
- One restroom in Davis Hall 2nd floor
- Two restrooms in Davis Hall 1st floor
- One restroom on the 3rd floor of Lowman Hall near the University Advancement office
- Two restrooms on the basketball court at SHM
- Two restrooms in the library
- Two restrooms in Recital Hall Dressing Rooms of Fine Arts Building
- One restroom in Transportation Center
- Two restrooms in Bulldog Den
- All restrooms in the Brooks Health Center
