Tiera Williams named SC State's new director of residence life and housing
“I am thrilled to welcome Ms. Williams to the division of student affairs as our new housing director,” said Dr. Tamara Jeffries, SC State’s vice president for student affairs. “Her extensive experience and wealth of knowledge will be a tremendous asset as we continue to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for our students.
“We are excited to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact that she will make in this role,” Jeffries said.
A native of Clyo, Georgia, Williams joined SC State after relocating to Columbia, South Carolina, last year. Her 12-year career spans both on-campus and off-campus student housing operations.
Williams began her housing career at Savannah State University, where she spent three years managing housing operations and coordinating summer camp programs. She then returned to her alma mater, East Georgia State College, where she served as assistant director of housing for two years before being promoted to director, a position she held for another two years.
“For me, residence life and housing is more than just a career—it’s a calling,” Williams said. “It’s an opportunity to positively impact students’ lives, ensuring that their experience in the residence halls supports their growth, academic success and personal development.”
Williams said her goal is to support student success by fostering a positive residential experience.
“My goal is to help students reach their fullest potential, graduate and thrive in their future endeavors,” she said. “I am truly honored to be part of the Bulldog family and excited to continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.”
Williams holds an associate degree in sociology from East Georgia State College, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Georgia Southern University, and a master’s in public administration from South University. She is pursuing a Doctor of Public Administration at Valdosta State University
As director of residence life and housing, Williams succeeds Andre Thompson, who remains at SC State as director of judicial affairs.
